چکیده
Abstract We calculated apparent stresses for 70 earthquakes ( M W ? 5.0) occurring in the aftershock region of 2010 8.8 Bio-Bío earthquake from January 1990 to September 2019. identified that average stress was approximately 0.487 MPa between and December 2005 1.063 within period 2006 2010. The latter one is 2.2-fold greater than former, representing a significant difference as determined by z test, with 99% confidence level. Moreover, we analyzed temporal evolution found rapidly increased 0.43 1.2 during pre-event March occurrence mainshock, this be at 98% Furthermore, spatial distribution study observed two higher-apparent-stress regions, which epicenter event located. On basis inverse correlation b value stress, values were compared those stress. comparison showed decreased 4 years before while substantially; lower , higher, vice versa. Therefore, supported results obtained present can probably considered precursors great earthquakes.

متن کاملOn the stress dependence of the earthquake b value
Laboratory experiments have shown that the b value in the size distribution of acoustic emission events decreases linearly with differential stress. There have been a number of observations that indicate that this relation may also hold for earthquakes. Here using a simple frictional strength model for stresses in the continental lithosphere combined with earthquake b values measured as a funct...
متن کاملStudies on the moss flora of the Bío-Bío Region of Chile: Part 3
This is the final report on the moss flora of the Bío-Bío Region (Región VIII) in south-central Chile where collections were made in 2001-2003. Reported in this paper are one species new to South America, four species new to Chile and 16 species new to the Region. With these new additions the total number of taxa in the Bío-Bío Region is 343, corresponding to 331 species and 12 infraspecific ta...
متن کاملVariability in earthquake stress drop and apparent stress
[1] We apply empirical Green’s function coda‐based analysis to four earthquake sequences in Japan that span a magnitude range of 1.8 to 6.9, to measure radiated energy, corner frequency and stress drop. We find no systematic dependence of apparent stress or stress drop on seismic moment for these sequences, and find they both are log‐normally distributed; however, we identify several anomalous ...
